BIO

Silence in the Grey was formed after the demise of Andrew and Kurt's previous band, Elephant Sun. They were looking for a heavier sound that could not be achieved in Elephant Sun; therefore, they recruited Mike Glasser to play bass for the new project. On June 14th of 2013 they released their first EP entitled “Sunrise to Infinity,” under the name Opium Blues Travelers. After gigging around New Jersey for a couple of months in venues such as the Championship Bar and Grill, The Blue Room, Allstar Music Empire, The Crossroads, and The Stone Pony; and they released a single entitled “Prophecy of the Damned” on August 16th which happened to be the day the headlined the first ever “Norbfest,” a local music festival.

Before their departure for college on August 23rd, O.B.T. recorded what would end up being their first full length album entitled, “When the Trees cried Silver.” They released this album under the new name of Silence in the Grey on October 15th, because the band’s sound was beginning to evolve from mid-tempo Stoner Rock to a Doom Metal drawing influence from Death Metal, Classical Music, and Black Metal, creating a completely new and diverse sound.

More recently, the band placed second in the Gorilla Music Battle of the Bands on December 29th, only missing first place by a handful of votes. In addition we released a new EP on February 23rd entitled, “On the Fringe of Winter,” which was written as the band was spilt up over three states because everyone in the band attends a different college. In addition, drummer Kurt Schwoerer has recently been endorsed by Soultone Cymbals.

Despite the fact that the band is split up because of college, they continue to write music and record music on their laptops through Acoustica Mixcraft 6. Whenever they can, they attempt to get together to play a show, but it has been hard to sync everyone’s schedules up recently; however, they are currently working on a new EP which they hope to have released in Fall of 2014 and a second full length album which they would like to release in Spring of 2015.
